Turmeric Golden Milk
A warm, soothing spiced latte with turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon — the calming evening drink that fights inflammation while you unwind.
Kim's note
Whisk the spices into a paste with a few spoonfuls of the warm milk before adding the rest — it dissolves the turmeric completely so there's no grit at the bottom of your mug. And don't skip the black pepper; it's what makes the turmeric work.
Ingredients
- 2 cups unsweetened almond or oat milk
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more to dust
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (or 1/4 teaspoon ground)
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for richness)
How to make it
- 1
Warm the plant milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming — do not let it boil.
- 2
Spoon a few tablespoons of the warm milk into a small bowl with the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper, and stir into a smooth paste.
- 3
Pour the paste back into the pan and whisk until fully combined and golden.
- 4
Add the maple syrup, vanilla, and coconut oil if using. Warm and whisk for 2 minutes more.
- 5
Strain through a fine sieve if you used fresh ginger, then pour into two mugs.
- 6
Dust with cinnamon and sip slowly — this one is meant to be savored.
